Federal Supreme Court (STF) rules on marriage for individuals over 70

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) has ruled that the marital system providing for total separation of property is optional for those who marry after the age of 70. In this system, which was previously mandatory under the Brazilian Civil Code, there is no distribution of property between the spouses in the event of divorce or death.
