Key Trends in CADE – Second half of 2025

The second half of 2025 was marked by significant developments in Antitrust Law in Brazil. In this edition of the CADE Newsletter, our specialists present the key numbers, trends, and decisions issued by CADE during the period. 

  • Merger Filings: 846 mergers filed with CADE, representing a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2024 
  • Analysis time: 18% decrease in fast-track procedures (16.56 days) and 40% in non-fast-track procedures (60.41 days) 
  • Anticompetitive practices: initiation of 16 Preparatory Procedures, 12 Administrative Inquiries, and 18 Administrative Proceedings 
  • Collections: BRL 367 million in monetary contributions 
  • Relevant convictions: hospital union for uniform conduct, Rumo-ALL for abuse of dominance, Sindtanque/MG for price uniformity, and electricity meter cartel with fines of BRL 73 million 
  • Merger filings approved with restrictions: acquisition of Cobasi by Petz with divestiture of 26 stores in São Paulo 
  • Wickbold and Bimbo transaction: approved subject to divestiture of the “Tá Pronto!” and “Nutrella” brands
