In the second half of Latin Lawyer’s AI-focused Elite Roundtable in São Paulo, it was discussed how law firms should rethink the way they measure the value they provide to their clients by going beyond the traditional billable hour business model, which is set to be out of play thanks to the increasing use of AI in legal work.
Our Managing Partner Alexandre Barreto raised the point that clients may be already ahead of firms when it comes to AI – therefore, law firms have no chance but to catch up. “Let’s remember our clients are giants. They have much more resources than us and will be heavy users of that. So, we’re talking here like we are going to conduct the process, that we’re going to be on the front run of this – but we won’t, our clients will,” he said.
