Regulatory and legislative developments mark the August edition of our Energy Newsletter

August was marked by relevant developments in the electricity sector, including: 

  • Hydroelectric generation auction, which moved R$26.5 billion and will enable the construction of 65 plants;  
  • Approval of the bidding notice for isolated systems, with emphasis on hybrid projects in Amazonas and Pará;  
  • MME public hearings on the 2026 Capacity Reserve Auction;  
  • ANEEL public hearing for the first transmission auction of 2026, with expected investments of R$3.31 billion;  
  • Legislative discussions on Provisional Measures No. 1,300 and 1,304/2025, addressing the Social Electricity Tariff, the opening of the free market and self-production of energy;  
  • Conclusion of CCEE’s Competitive Mechanism, which negotiated R$1.4 billion in disputes related to hydrological risk.
