On January 1, 2024, the short film “Steamboat Willie” (1928), which introduced the iconic Mickey Mouse character, and the animation “Plane Crazy” (1928), both authorship by Walt Disney, became public domain under US law. As of this date, both the animations and the first versions of the Mickey and Minnie characters can be adapted, copied, and used freely by anyone interested.

New rules regarding medicine leaflets must be observed by the pharmaceutical industry starting in February

On February 6, 2024, the regulation of the National Health Surveillance Agency (“Anvisa”), RDC No 831/2023, which amends RDC No 47/2009, will come into effect. Both RDC 831/2023 and RDC 47/2009 establish the rules for the preparation, harmonization, updating, publication, and availability of medicine leaflets for patients and healthcare professionals. The regulations also define the requirements for content, format, language, and presentation of the leaflets, as well as the deadlines and procedures for their updating and availability.

INCRA opposes the transfer of control of Eldorado Brasil Celulose S.A

At the end of 2023, the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA) notified the São Paulo Commercial Board (JUCESP) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) about the impossibility of selling the controlling interest of Eldorado Brasil Celulose S.A. (Eldorado) to C.A. Investment Brasil S.A. (CA Investment), due to the lack of prior authorization from the National Congress, as stipulated in the applicable legislation.
